The SDX is thoughtfully divided into two distinct libraries, each representing a studio. The ‘Death’ section, meticulously recorded by Mark Lewis, took place at the Sonic Ranch in Tornillo, Texas. The studio’s expertly designed main room by Vincent van Haaff ensures unparalleled acoustics—crisp, distinct, dense, with a warm, resonant, and balanced natural reverb. In contrast, the ‘Darkness’ part of the SDX presents a raw, less polished tone, recorded in the unique setting of the empty swimming pool at Tue’s Antfarm Studio in Aarhus, Denmark. The pool’s reflective surface and the surrounding room’s brick structure create an unparalleled ambience.
