CLASS DESCRIPTION
Become An Inspiring Leader By Learning The Art Of Storytelling
You communicate with your team members every day, but have you ever stopped to consider how effective those conversations are? Are you really getting your message across in a clear and confident way? Are you explaining to your team why their jobs are critical to the success of the company?
If you feel like there’s something missing from your communication style, it could be the way you’re telling your story. Storytelling is an ancient art, used since the dawn of man to communicate, connect, and inspire. While it might come naturally to some, most of us need to learn and practice storytelling skills in order to achieve the most impact.
In this class, you’ll learn how to:
- Design a simple story model to use in crafting your message.
- Write a first draft of your story.
- Know where to start in using storytelling in the workplace.
- Engage your audience and elicit a positive reaction.
- Tell stories that are simple, clear and concise, without being overly detailed or confusing.
- Maintain authority while increasing authenticity and vulnerability.
CORY CAPRISTA
Cory fell in love with business because it combined the team focus and clear goals of sports with the complexity of human psychology. He spent ten years developing his skills and at-scale problem solving in Sales and Product at Google, YouTube, and Twitter.
Cory knew there was something more for him. On a South American vision quest, it became clear his mission was to develop effective, conscious leaders across the globe. Now he does just that. He works internationally with many of the biggest and fastest growing technology companies (including Google, Dropbox, Lyft, and Airbnb) to increase productivity, efficiency, and employee engagement. Cory works one-on- one with top performers and executives as well as with teams designing and leading trainings. He is obsessed with bringing more meaning, joy, and laughter to our work—an area of our lives we give so much time and energy to.
He earned his Bachelor of Science in Commerce with a focus in Marketing and Technology from Santa Clara University. Cory is a Certified Professional Co-Active Coach (CPCC) and a member of the International Coach Federation (ICF), the Coaches Training Institute (CTI) and the Institute of Professional Coaching Association (ICPA). He is a trained Somatica® Method Practitioner, a relational, and experiential body-based therapy focused on relationships and intimacy.
Cory is a practitioner of Vipassana meditation, a shameless Crossfitter, and a volunteer counselor in the Wilderness and Outdoor Leadership Program (WOLP) at Camp Ronald McDonald for Good Times—a summer camp oasis for kids with cancer and their families.
