“Wow, that was incredible! Where did you train?”

Confused by the question, I cock my head a bit to the side and ask, “What do you mean?”

“That speech! I’m a professional speaking coach. I train speakers from all over the country. That was impressive. Where did you learn?”

At that moment, Vivian came running over to give me one of her big bear hugs and a kiss. All I could do was smile as he tried not to stare at her. I’d seen her have that effect on men before.

In the absurdity of that moment, I had to laugh.

“How had a normal guy, voted shyest person in his graduating class in high school, come to be a leading speaker at one of New York City’s biggest personal development meetups?”

All I could do was savor the moment and soak it in.

I’ve been fortunate enough to have many more moments like that since.

Walking into my old boss’s office at my Washington D.C. based consulting company to tell him I was moving to New York City, and walking out 30 minutes later with a remote work arrangement and an 80% raise.

Watching Ben run after a beautiful woman he saw walking by us in the street, and smiling as I heard the news from my roommates later that night that she was a famous television star, and that they were going on a date together that same night.

Inspiring four people to trust their lives to me, quit their jobs or drop out of college, leave their life behind in New York City, and move with me to Rio de Janeiro (including one I’d only met two weeks prior!)

But who cares about me? I’m writing this for YOU.

That as long as you’re a good person, your dream partner will just come walking into your life one day, because that’s what you deserve.

I’m sorry to be the one to tell you, you’ve been sold a lie.

Hollywood movies, school, even your parents have accidentally tricked you into believing the world rewards those who put their head down, work hard, and deserve to be rewarded.

But it doesn’t.

That’s why you see people who aren’t smarter than you getting the jobs that you want (and the money that goes with it!)

That’s why you see people who aren’t better than you getting the dates that you want.

And that’s why despite doing all the things you’ve been told you should do, you haven’t been able to get the life you want and dream of.

It isn’t just what you know, it’s who you know. And it isn’t just what you do, it’s what others are willing to do FOR you.

If you aren’t charismatic, you’re going to lose out in life to folks that don’t deserve to be beating you. But they will beat you. Again and again.

That’s what we learned when Ben didn’t get that job offer eleven years ago.

It isn’t fair, but deep down we all know that this is how the world works.

THAT is why I created Charisma University

Because it’s the most important thing in your life. This isn’t just about your social life. This bleeds into everything.

What would life be like if you had the tools to ‘turn it on’ and wow any room at a moment’s notice?

I decided to create Charisma University after it became clear to me that:

• I wasn’t the only one being held back in their career by a lack of confidence
• Most people, including myself for most of my life, are situationally confident. They’re great in small familiar groups, but in large groups or high pressure situations
• they become hesitant and meek (especially with work superiors, gorgeous members of the opposite sex, and the people they most admire)
• Too many people are worried to take risks. Whether it’s starting a business, getting a promotion, or talking to the incredibly attractive person at the bar, they miss out
• on getting what they deserve because they don’t have the confidence to go for it or the charisma to make it happen
