CLASS DESCRIPTION
Anyone Can Draw
This beginner-friendly class will teach you essential techniques for drawing realistically. Understand the concepts of line quality, contour line, and mark making. Youβll also learn about the materials used in drawing and art so youβre not intimidated by the art store. And youβll understand how to slow down and βseeβ things to better draw them. Instructor Amy Wynne teaches at the Rhode Island School of Design and exhibits her work nationally, winning numerous grants and awards.
In this class youβll learn:
- The expressive potential of a variety of drawing media on varied surfaces
- How to build a connection between eye, mind and hand
- To practice sensitive line quality as it relates to mechanical versus organic motifs
By the end of the class, youβll have created a series of contour drawings of organic and mechanical objects in varied materials.
AMY WYNNE
Amy Wynne received her MFA in Painting and Drawing from the New York Academy of Art in Manhattan and her BA from Smith College in Art History and Cultural Anthropology. She has been teaching painting and drawing for over 25 years. For 10 years, she taught full time at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts Boston. Amy currently teaches in the Fine Art departments of several New England colleges including Rhode Island School of Design’s Certificate Program. She works as a Creative Coach for many private clients both in her studio and on-line. She is RISD CE’s 2014 Teacher of Excellence.
Amy has exhibited in galleries nationally, including shows at the Chazan Gallery in Providence, RI, Castle Hill Art Center, Truro, MA and The Woods-Gerry Gallery at the Rhode Island School of Design. She has works in private and corporate collections nationally including Fidelity Investments and Meditech Corporation.
Amy was awarded grants from The Rhode Island Cultural Council and Pfizer Pharmaceuticals and a fellowship from the Vermont Studio Center. She has lived and traveled extensively in Thailand, India, Tanzania, Mexico and throughout Europe. She has had reviews of her work in Art New England, The Providence Journal and the Boston Globe.
