CLASS DESCRIPTION
Embrace Stress Rather Than Trying To Tamp It Down
Workplace stress has reached all time highs with no end in sight. In this session John will reverse a typical question people ask. Instead of “How can I reduce stress to perform better?” John will help you consider “How can I perform better under increased stress… and learn to like it?” Explore a new model of resiliency based on neuroscience, where proactive challenges are designed to build capacity for ever greater performance under pressure, while learning the new brain science of recovery. Illuminated by entertaining and informative stories from John’s Olympic and business careers.
JOHN K. COYLE
John K. Coyle is one of the world’s leading experts in innovation and Design Thinking. He is the author of Design For Strengths: Applying Design Thinking to Individual and Team Strengths (2018) and The Art of Really Living Manifesto (2016). John teaches innovation courses at Marquette University and at the CEDIM University Graduate School center for design, innovation and business in Mexico. He is an NBC sports analyst, two-time TEDx presenter, author, and sought-after keynote speaker. He is known for his engaging storytelling combined with data-driven tools and information.
John won an Olympic silver medal in speedskating—an achievement he attributes directly to his Design Thinking background. He earned an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management and is a graduate of Stanford University, where he studied Product Design, and his academic advisor was David Kelley, the founder of IDEO.
John is known as #thetimeguy because he is a thought leader in the field of chronoception—the study of how we, as humans, process time.
When John is not delivering keynotes and workshops, he enjoys exploring exotic locations, growing trinidad moruga scorpion peppers, and riding his fat tire bike in a leisure suit.
