Exploring the Essential Features of “Julie Bjelland – Embrace the Gifts of Neurodiversity as a Highly Sensitive Person – The Shift Network”
With Psychotherapist, Author, Host of the HSP Podcast
& Founder of the Sensitive Empowerment Community
Julie Bjelland, LMFT
Receive easy and powerfully effective tools for balancing your nervous system — and increasing focus and resilience during moments of sensory overload.
Embody the blessings of your high sensitivity to heal yourself and help you bring more compassion to our world.
As a Highly Sensitive Person (HSP), your mind and heart hold an expanded capacity for creating a deeply meaningful and enriched experience of life — once you learn how to mitigate the many challenges to your sensitivity.
One of the biggest obstacles is sensory overload… the challenging side of your heightened senses, deeply perceptive nature, and keen awareness of the emotional and mental states of others.
Having the inherent ability to perceive the nuances of life — easily reading environments, situations, and people through their energy, body language, and microexpressions — skilled HSPs inhabit a rich inner world that they can, when well-resourced, translate into profound insights and creations.
As psychotherapist Jule Bjelland teaches, HSPs are the compassionate and forward-thinking artists, innovators, teachers, healers, and leaders that the world desperately needs right now.
In short, HSPs are the “future” of humanity, in that they’re accessing deeper dimensions of consciousness.
If you’re like many HSPs, however, you frequently struggle with feeling overwhelmed by the constant bombardment of sights, sounds, scents, and the energetic states of everything and everyone you encounter.
It’s not easy living as a “future human” in today’s chaos.
As your senses become overloaded, anxiety, energy depletion, and irritability can take over your health and your life…
… creating cascades of new challenges such as sleep disturbances, exhaustion, and a loss of productivity, creativity, and focus in the process.
But it doesn’t have to be this way.
During this deeply transformative course with Julie, you’ll uncover the gifts of your neurodiverse nature and learn how to thrive in an insensitive world by mastering practical tools. Julie designed these tools to help HSPs overcome sensory overload by balancing their nervous system and relaxing their emotional reactions so they have access to clearer, higher thinking.
As an author and host of the HSP Podcast, Julie has helped thousands of HSPs worldwide discover the value of their innate sensitivity.
With Julie, you’ll explore how, as an HSP, you’re on the spectrum of neurodiversity (variations in brain function and behavioral traits). You’ll gain an understanding of the HSP traits that you possess and ways to leverage them to enhance your life and the lives of others.
Throughout this course, you’ll explore the science that explains why you experience life in a penetrating and visceral way… how that makes you distinctively insightful… and why neurodiversity is becoming more widely embraced, valued, and even needed in mainstream culture.
During this empowering course on how to work with your innate sensitivity, you’ll:
- Discover simple daily practices and powerful tools to help balance and restore your nervous system when experiencing sensory overload
- Receive a user’s manual to function well as a sensitive person in a world that’s often incompatible with your needs
- Learn why sensory overload is the main culprit of anxiety, irritability, and emotional reactivity for HSPs
- Explore common challenges for HSPs and how to cultivate the gifts of sensitivity that can mitigate them
- Learn a technique to relax emotional reactions so you have access to clearer, higher thinking
- Explore 3 essential stages of restoration for a HSP that allow you to function at your optimum levels
- Create a customized plan for daily HSP self-care that restores and rebalances
- Equip your sensitive nervous system with self-compassion — a protective armor that can be called upon when you need a little calming or reassurance
- Learn to leverage your innate HSP gifts to shift your thinking in ways that make you stronger in the face of adversity
- Discover how to raise your threshold of tolerance to stressors of your sensitive nervous system
- Examine the differences between the brain of a HSP and non-HSP
- Receive a guided meditation to help deepen your sense of connection and dissolve loneliness
- Explore how to boost your energy, increase your brain focus, experience more patience, and regulate your emotions
- And much more…
With 20-30% of the world’s population displaying traits of high sensitivity, Julie teaches that HSPs have a profound opportunity to lead the way toward a more equitable, caring, and sustainable world.
She’ll share how many HSPs are using their gifts within their own areas of expertise to do just that — working for causes they care deeply about as healers, performing artists, and more…
You’ll use potent tools to balance your sensitive nervous system and ease stress, emotional overwhelm, and reactivity — regaining clarity and calm. You’ll likely have more energy and feel more joy and self-love as a result — and those around you will also benefit by the emergence of your gifts of sensitivity.
As you begin to deactivate stress and activate calm, you’ll instill a deep sense of safety and balance throughout your entire being that allows your high sensitivity to shine… and light up the world.
If you’re ready to embody the blessings of your high sensitivity, join Julie on this evolutionary journey to cultivate and unleash your gifts as a HSP, and share them with a world that needs you.

Module 1: Prevent Sensory Overload by Understanding High Sensitivity & Its Challenges That Cause Anxiety, Irritability & Reactivity (January 24)
Sensory overload is often the culprit of emotional reactivity, anxiety, irritability, sleep issues, exhaustion, and even loss of productivity, creativity, and focus for HSPs. Understanding this can be life changing.
This week, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of sensory overload from an empathic and scientific perspective, and how it impedes your ability to function easefully.
Julie will also share tips on how to overcome it and empower your unique gifts of sensitivity.
In this opening session, you’ll discover:
- Why sensory overload is the main culprit of anxiety, irritability, and emotional reactivity for HSPs
- The differences between the brain of a HSP and a non-HSP
- Common challenges for HSPs and how to cultivate the gifts of sensitivity to mitigate them
- Tips to prevent sensory overload and empower your innate sensitivity
- The most important mindset shifts for HSPs — what’s supporting and not supporting the development of your HSP gifts
Module 2: Recognize the Gifts of Sensitivity to Increase Your Self-Compassion & Self-Love (January 31)
HSPs have many incredible, unique, and much-needed gifts. This week, you’ll explore many of them and gain a deeper understanding of how valuable they are to the world.
Oftentimes, your HSP gifts are buried under challenges, so it’s even more essential to take care of yourself in ways that honor your sensitivity.
Because the world is not always set up for sensitive people, it’s easy to think that something is wrong with you for being sensitive. You may have received messages that feeling deeply or having sensitivity in general is a weakness. This can impact your self-esteem and cause you to be hard on yourself.
This week, you’ll learn to recognize the gifts of your sensitivity and increase self-love, as you begin to see your value. You’ll also learn how important self-compassion is — a tool that helps with everything.
You’ll:
- Learn how what we deem as positive human qualities are often the main qualities of HSPs
- Discover the many gifts of sensitivity and why they’re so vital for today’s world
- Explore the power of nature as your greatest healer
- Become a kind, caring friend to yourself by improving self-talk — and increase self-love, confidence, and self-esteem
- Learn how to equip your sensitive nervous system with self-compassion — a protective armor that can be called upon when you need a little calming or reassurance
Module 3: Balance & Calm Your Sensitive Nervous System With Self-Care Tools Designed to Restore the Nervous System for HSPs (February 7)
Learning the right self-care tools that work for the sensitive nervous system is key to thriving for HSPs. Self-care practices are essential because doing what most people do is unlikely to work effectively for you.
Society isn’t set up for our high levels of sensitivity, and without tools you can become overwhelmed, overloaded, and exhausted in a way that impacts every aspect of your life.
This week, you’ll finally learn what works for the sensitive system, which may be very different from what you’ve been taught.
Julie will give you a technique for centered alignment as you learn more about calming the overstimulated nervous system and explore tools and skills that work specifically for HSPs — so you can finally learn how to fully calm, restore, and rebalance your sensitive nervous system.
In this session, you’ll explore:
- Simple daily practices that help balance and restore your nervous system
- A user’s manual (that you’ll receive) for functioning well as a sensitive person in a world that’s often incompatible with your needs
- A technique to relax emotional reactions so you have access to clearer, higher thinking
- The power to transform negatives into positives in the brain
- A breathing technique that communicates safety to your brain
- The key to exercising parts of your brain that help you pause, reflect, and respond
- 3 essential stages of restoration for HSPs that allow you to function at your optimum levels
- A customized plan for daily HSP self-care that restores and rebalances
Module 4: Track & Preserve Your Energy to Increase Your Creativity, Balance Emotions & Improve Sleep (February 14)
Many HSP gifts can be buried under exhaustion and overwhelm, so it’s crucial to understand how to support and honor your sensitivity and release its gifts.
You only have so much energy in your tank. And, as a HSP, you need extra processing time, because you take in and often give out so much at one time. In fact, one of the biggest challenges of sensitivity is an overloaded nervous system that overwhelms your body, mind, and spirit.
This week, you’ll learn how to track and preserve your energy to reduce overwhelm and boost and maintain higher levels of balance.
If you’re wondering why you’re so tired all the time or have a hard time keeping up with the demands of life, this session will illuminate not only the reasons, but also the solutions.
In this module, you’ll learn:
- An easy point system for tracking your energy — so you can preserve some of your precious energy for yourself
- The 5 steps that improve sleep for HSPs
- How to boost your energy, increase your brain focus, experience more patience, and regulate your emotions
Module 5: Prioritize Wellness by Setting Healthy, Guilt-Free Boundaries (February 21)
You likely feel more empowered when you’re feeling your best because you give yourself permission to live in a way that supports your needs as a sensitive person. You can then recognize your gifts, knowing that you’re truly here for a reason.
Imagine moving out of survival mode into thriving. What would you do if you had more energy? Who would benefit in your life if you felt calm and balanced with greater access to joy? This class will be dedicated to exploring these important questions.
You’ll explore:
- The cost to your health and overall wellbeing of over-giving
- Why prioritizing your wellness begins with knowing your value
- Why the world is better with sensitive people in it
- How to set healthy boundaries, and ways to say “no” without guilt
- Helpful language to use when setting boundaries
- An easy compromise technique
Module 6: Overcome Adversity by Leveraging Your Gifts of Sensitivity & Increasing Your Resiliency — With Special Guest Gracie King (February 28)
Positive psychology is the scientific study of human flourishing, and it seeks to identify what enables people to thrive. Research shows that there are an abundance of practices designed to promote increased resiliency for HSPs.
This week, positive psychology wellness coach Gracie King joins the class to explore the most powerful tools HSPs can use to build resilience.
If you’ve ever felt like you’re too easily broken by stressful situations or unhelpful patterns of thinking, or like you’ve barely recovered from one setback before you get hit with another…
… you’ll delight in the strategies taught during this session, as you strengthen the armor you have to protect yourself from common HSP struggles — from perfectionism and difficulty adapting to change, to emotional overreaction and physical exhaustion.
In this session, you’ll:
- Learn to leverage your innate HSP gifts and shift your thinking in ways that make you stronger in the face of adversity
- Discover how to raise your threshold of tolerance to nervous system stressors
- Learn how to replace fragility with equanimity
- Identify tools that help you feel more confident that you can face challenges that arise
- Start to perceive the gifts within you that will begin to emerge even more as you increase resiliency
Module 7: Move Out of Survival Mode, Flourish & Help Heal the World by Living in Alignment With Your HSP Gifts (March 7)
Once you normalize the way that you experience life and realize that all HSPs have a more sensitive system than the majority of the population, the guilt you may feel about having different needs than others dissipates.
Understanding how to take care of your unique needs means you finally get to live aligned with who you are, which brings you to a higher level of empowerment where you can truly share your gifts with the world.
During the final week of this course, you’ll learn how, as you live in alignment with your authentic self, everyone benefits.
Developing a true sense of who you are and what you want and need helps you make better life decisions — a skill that’s been underdeveloped because you’ve been focused on others’ needs.
Now you finally have a chance to know yourself deeply without always filtering through the lens of other people’s needs… creating a solid baseline that helps you soar even higher in life.
During the final class, you’ll explore:
- Your value as a sensitive person and why the world needs you
- Why your light is so important, and why it’s a positive thing to share your gifts
- The importance of celebrating your growth
- The profound experience of spending time with other kind-hearted HSPs
- How to move out of survival mode and truly thrive as a sensitive person
- A new freedom now that your sensitivity has been “normalized” and you’ve been validated by others who share it
- Your personal template for supporting your needs and nurturing yourself as a HSP
- Resources that empower you to flourish in all areas of your life
