LOU FREEMAN
“Lou Freeman has practiced the art of fashion, glamour, fine interior and product photography for three decades. Her clients are among the most respected and recognized names in America and Europe. Her work is both powerful and visionary and has been recognized by both the publishing and advertising worlds, winning her the prestigious OBIE and ADDIE Awards.
In 1988, Lou achieved a nearly singular pinnacle in her career, becoming only the second woman in the history of the publication to shoot for Playboy Magazine. Only the famous Suze Randall preceded her in this extraordinary achievement.
Louβs work was so recognized by this cornerstone of the erotic genre that she was invited to shoot regularly for the publication over the next twelve consecutive years. (Seven years longer than Randall herself). Freeman completed 597 editorial spreads for Playboy. She was also sought after by fashion giant, Italian Harpers Bazaar during this period.
Lou is also no stranger to celebrity photography and has shot many members of Hollywood and Sports royalty including Jamie Foxx, Tiger Woods, Jack Nicholas, Joe Montana, Evader Holyfield, TLC, Jamie Rasher and Lisa Bonet.
This extraordinary combination of experience honed by the fire of difficult settings, near impossible conditions, international travel and the ever present deadline to the most demanding of clients has resulted in a photographer with incredible flexibility, cool talent under fire, and an indefatigable, ever present sense of humor. Today, in addition to her extensive shooting schedule, Lou has entered the lecture circuit to share her expertise with both novice and professional photographers. To date her lecture tours have included the NEIPP, GPPA,SCPPA, APA, PPA, WPPI, PDN,After Dark EDU, and the Maui Photo Festival. Lou has also conducted numerous classes, workshops and seminars nationwide as well as appearing as a guest lecturer at universities throughout the country. “

She was fortunate enough to chance upon photography at the age of fifteen, taking early fortes in self-portraiture and fine art photography. At only seventeen, she decided to start her own business – Lara Jade Photography. Beginning by taking on small clients, she was soon able to demonstrate a strong understanding of how to develop the commercial side of her business to adequately deal with the growing demand for her work. Lara’s momentum has continued to build; she is now successfully working within the fashion and advertising industry whilst also developing her personal portfolio and teaching workshops worldwide. She is influenced by elements of influential style, film noir and the old masters in painting and photography.
