Why Learn Story via Muse?
It’s estimated that we see up to 5,000 ads a day. Our attention spans are dwindling and we’re increasingly unsure about the truth in what we see and hear.
Story cuts through the noise and makes real connections. Story is what makes you memorable. Muse is built on years of research in psychology, neuroscience, anthropology, and sociology—all looking at one main thing: how we, as humans, connect. We found what grabs people’s attention, makes something memorable, and what determines whether something is felt emotionally.
Muse is a step-by-step guide encompassing a decade of experience, countless devoured journal articles, and the “why” behind it all.
“I can tell you, without a doubt, that Muse single handedly saved our business. We were struggling to find our voice while finding ourselves in a never ending battle to provide the lowest rates just to land jobs. I would recommend the MUSE to anyone, from freelancer to large studio. And, I’d pay many times the price to continue taking my crew in the right direction.”

Howdy! I’m Patrick. I’d love to tell you why we made Muse
Back in my university days, long after I’d finished my assignments, I’d browse through every forum and blog I could find for advice on this “filmmaking” thing: what camera I should buy, how they worked, and where to start with all of this.
I was studying psychology at the time, and was fascinated by everything I was learning about human behavior and why we do what we do. From that came a deep desire to share these ideas with a broader audience in the form of documentaries. That was the impetus behind filmmaking and the late nights scouring forums.
While I could find heaps of camera reviews and how-to’s, there was one massive hole. The idea of story was thrown around everywhere. I read everywhere that we should value the story, and that the story is what mattered most. But no matter how much I searched, I just couldn’t find a great depth of information on how to build a story. This is where I should probably share a bit of my backstory.
Growing up, I was a serious math nerd. As in, rather than going to a party on the weekend, I’d stay home and study ahead in one of my math classes. At one point, I’d gotten so far ahead that my grade 9 teacher offered me a deal: I could sit in on her grade 10 math class, and, if I could pass that, I could get credits in both grade 9 and 10 all at once.
Muse was borne of those two passions—the certainty and formulaic nature of mathematics, paired with the science of people, perspectives, and behavior found in psychology. It’s what I wish I’d had back when I was in university.
Today Muse is something that I hope helps you better understand story, its structure, and how to unlock its power to connect people to things that matter to you.
After all, it’s a well-told story that can truly bring us together. And we believe the world could certainly use a little more of that.
