Recording the Contemporary Soloists series has been a long-standing aspiration for Sonixinema, representing the culmination of our sampling journey and embodying our ideals and tastes. Upon discovering Danny’s exceptional talent, we were compelled to collaborate, starting with one of our favorite instruments鈥攖he cello.
To capture the rich and delicate tone of Danny’s 19th Century Cello, we opted for a relatively dry room to achieve an up-close and personal sound. Inspired by modern film composers, we focused not only on a particular tonal quality but also on specific articulations prevalent in our favorite film scores.
The library includes essential articulations such as Legato, Sustains, Spiccato, Pizzicato, Tremolo, and Col Legno. What sets this library apart are the unique and inspiring articulations curated in collaboration with Danny鈥攆eatures not found in other sample libraries. These include Arpeggio Crossings, Warped Sustains, Circular Bowing, Harmonic Falls, Harmonic Wavers, Harmonic Glissando, and Seagull Screeches. These sounds serve not only as aleatoric effects but also as musical elements, allowing you to create captivating, dark, and soulful atmospheres that bring a raw and lifelike quality typically unattainable with samples.
