Youth Defense off the Ground (downloadable)
5 simple practices to teach a child to move and defend themselves off the ground. Fully adaptable to adult training.
DESCRIPTION
Vladimir and Natasha Vasiliev
For youth self-defense, the main advantage against a bigger attacker is mobility. A child must learn not to freeze, stop or pause, but rather keep moving and looking for ways to escape and utilize surroundings. Only then do they have a chance to get to safety.
Defending from the ground is more challenging than confrontations from standing, and thus, it is an even better scenario for training.
In this short film, a Systema founder, Vladimir Vasiliev is teaching his student and daughter, Natasha.

Working with a child is in many ways more challenging. These here are great training drills! I will be trying them with my kids. All the ideas apply to adult practice too. Thank you, Vladimir, for this excellent video!

This is such important work and I’m so grateful to Vladimir and his family for providing it. I’ve been using it with my 5 year old daughter and it’s great to not only start to instill the concepts of Systema, but it’s fun for both of us. Also great training for the adult. Thank you again!

As a woman studying Systema, I found this class extremely useful for understanding and practicing my best options for defense against larger opponents.
